  1. Hi! I adore your garden. Could you let me know what the blue tree/shrub is which you can see through the arch – is it a blue spirea? I think it is gorgeous!

    1. Hello Jennifer, thank you for your kind comment, I’m glad you enjoyed my garden. I think the shrub you’re referring to – the one wrapped round the large bamboo tripod – isn’t a blue Spirea (though we have that too) but a Ceanothus, also known as a California Lilac. I don’t know which variety it is, unfortunately.

      This part of the UK does seem to be condusive to growing them and there are some spectacular, large specimens around. I’ve had to stop mine from taking over by pruning. I think they like the drier and sunnier conditions we can have compared to the rest of the UK.
