Ailing Bay

For a while we’ve had a young bay in a pot.

It was doing fine until the back end of this winter when after some rather cold harsh winds and snow, it keeled over. The leaves mottled and scorched, buds withered and the stems died back.

During some better weather I managed to have a good look at it, re-pot it and cut the dead bits out. There’s really very little left and I’m not sure if the rest is going to succumb too. That would be a shame as I do want to have a couple more good-sized bay bushes in the garden, and this one might have been set back permanently. The year of pampering I’m going to have to give it should hopefully be enough encouragement for it to bravely soldier on.
