February Dawn Chorus

At the moment, the two large south-facing Velux windows in my bedroom do not have blinds. At the moment, this isn’t too much of an issue.

However, I am noticing that I am beginning to wake up earlier and earlier as the sunrise becomes earlier and earlier. On top of this, I have also been noticing the dawn chorus of birds gradually becoming louder as the winter wanes.

I’ve always liked the dawn chorus; granted, I don’t appreciate it when it wakes me up before 4:00am in the middle of summer but on the whole, it’s one of the most beautiful songs in nature.

Right now, at the end of February, the dawn chorus is short, a bit muted – there aren’t many birds joining in – and it sound like the equivalent of a orchestra tuning up.
