Blender is a free 3D modelling and rendering program. As Blender is not strictly a ray tracer, I have used YafRay (now called YafaRay) to render the images.
The images here are the raw renders, they haven't gone through any post-render image processing. Please remember that I am not an artist, I'm just someone who thinks ray tracing is neat and can produce some very pretty images. It was all just a phase I went through.
Software:
Blender (from version 2.44). As with most people, I hated the interface at first, and as I forced my way through the tutorials, I really got to like it in the end.
YafRAY (from version 0.0.9) looking at the version number you can tell this is a very early project. I have already come across some limitations (just because they haven't been coded yet). It seems very stable despite the early release number and it can produce some amazing renders that can be beautifully realistic (if only I knew how).
Hardware:
These days, all my work (creative and otherwise) is done on an Intel iMac Dual Core 2.0 GHz, 2 Gb Ram, 256 Mb video card and 250 Gb hard disk. I like to call it the 2-2-2-2-2 configuration. With YafRay working on both processor cores, render times stay (relatively) low.
