Practising Talent
I am practising my new-found talent for good design at a semi-professional level. I have a growing portfolio of work, most of which has been commissioned by the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton, for its Outreach and Communication of Science projects.
I have produced a wide variety of material from printed fliers, newsletters and posters to websites and presentations. A project would include the initial brief, sketched ideas, input from consultations, the actual design and writing and editing and proofing. I am usually involved in all stages of a project from initial conception through to taking the finished file to the press printers or online. I can play the roles of project manager, consultant, designer, artist, writer, editor and proof reader in a major project.
Roll Credits
I am well known in the University of Southampton's Cartographic Unit (Carto) and Print Centre - as these are the places I regularly go to badger staff on design tips, styles and printing.
I must credit the people who I have worked with very closely in the past, only their knowledge, patience and persistence have been able to reproduce the images and files on my computer screen to the beautiful press prints that have been seen by thousands of schools, teachers and pupils:
