CV Highlights
University 1
I received an Upper Second class MSci+YiE (Four year Masters Degree in Physics with a year studying abroad in Europe) from Imperial College, London in 2003.
University 2
I spent my third year at the University of Trento, Trentino Alto-Adige, Italy working on a photo-acoustic spectroscopy research project as part of my Masters Degree, in 2002.
University 3
In 2008 I finished my PhD from the University of Southampton, School of Physics and Astronomy. I studied coherent techniques for the optical manipulation of atoms and molecules and you can read my thesis on this site
IT skills
My IT skills are comprehensive. They cover hardware, software, security, networks, operating systems, programming and troubleshooting. I keep up to date with the latest developments and technologies too and I have to as it is part of my job.
Creative Skills
Creation and design of printed fliers, brochures and newsletters and large display posters. I have also designed and written websites. I have a small portfolio of creative and communicative work for education.
Schools Outreach
I have been heavily involved in the communication of science particularly to school children. I was a “chief laserist” of the Light Express Roadshow, I have taught children holography and have presented a talk on our Outreach work at the 2005 Conference on Education and Training in Optics and Photonics (ETOP) in France.
Spare time
Much of my spare time is spent weight training in the gym and training in the swimming pool. For relaxation, I like to read fantasy fiction, work in the garden and be creative with my Mac.
Languages
I am bilingual English and Gujarati, and have a reasonable level of Italian (almost conversational) from my year in Italy.
